Nuisance Neighbors Damaging My Property Yet Nothing Done By Police Each Time I‘be Reported Incidence!
Location: KENTUCKY Starting to believe the neighbors above us must “know somebody that knows somebody” within our local law “enforcement” after once again getting away with their nonsense. It’s baffled me to the point that I’ve turned to Reddit for answers/advice. Anyways, 3 children (between ages 9-15 yrs) & their mother who’s there less often than NOT, live above us in an apartment complex (8 total units in each set of about 10 buildings) ok so last night they banged around like they ALWAYS DO (the kids have friends over & they “play fight” each other, just more like body slam, but tomato tomATTO, right?)..& they hit so hard that it knocked our dining room light out of the ceiling, broke the clips too. I called my local Reno 911. 3 police walk in, take my husband and I’s ID (run OUR names through the system, mind you!) look at the light dangling from above everyone’s head (not once taking a photo) give our ID’s back, send one cop up & seconds later he says to us “they said they won’t do it again” & left. Afterward we listen to their entire exchange on our door cam & I’ve never heard anyone spoken more gently to from an officer in my life!! I’ve got it saved but it’s along the lines of “hi your neighbors below made a call due to your kids rough housing (yeah I heard) well, their light fell from their ceiling (okay?) yeah.. (well I’ll tell them to stop) ok have a nice night”. That was that!
This wasn’t the 1st call either. I reported them for banging so hard it knocked a very heavily framed piece of artwork right off the wall, nearly missing my daughter’s head by inches who was playing with her bird (which it would’ve definitely killed had she been 6in closer). Police came out, they wouldn’t answer the door after knocking for less than 2 minutes & said “we can’t make them answer the door it would violate their 4th amendment right, if you have any more trouble call us back out” & left. Time before that the kids were home alone & decided to hit my car windshield with a hard giant ass onion off their balcony & was told by that officer to not do it anymore, noting no adult supervision was there. Not long after that someone shattered out my entire back glass in that exact same car. They litter EVERYWHERE, peel paint off the doors, jumped the fence late one night (around the 3rd day of opening it) & threw glass in the community pool, resulting in it being shut down the remainder of the season. They roller skate in the halls, dangle upside down from the steel stairs going up to their apartment, park their bikes & scooters in the main entrance hallway, even once the office caught them attempting to put out a pizza box they set fire to on their stove (while home alone). At first I attempted to work it out with the mom, asking her if she could get them to chill tf out with all that excessive noise that I get they’re kids, they all make noise.. but not that extreme & she just says “they don’t know how to act” (yeah lady that’s your job to correct the shit?) then several times more after that I started complaining to the office (not trying to snitch, but my family deserves peace, respect & the right to feel safe in our own home & we no longer do). The office just gives them no-no letters & now after reporting to the police after having my PROPERTY DAMAGED & my children disturbed (autistic son freaks over loud noises, few times I’ve had to call him down), among many other incidences I’m forgetting, I’m at my wits end. Advice?
