May Have Just Been Fired For Religion, Unsure.
Hello, I was just let go of my job over the phone. It feels like a set up. I was brought into a group by my supervisor, where he initiated the conversation of having been arrested in our teens. I was hesitant to share but eventually did after encouragement. Over half of the people in the group shared similar stories. This came about 5 hours after my supervisor and I discussed his trip to Jerusalem. I mentioned a desire to go, and he asked if I was Jewish, expressing mild disappointment when I said I am Catholic. Flash forward to yesterday, I get a call from HR saying I need to be let go because my supervisor has complained about me discussing being arrested in a way that made him and others uncomfortable. He straight up lied about it after asking me to discuss it. I feel stupid, but I also feel like I was set up to lose my job in the immediate aftermath of me expressing my religion to my boss. Is there anything I can do here?
