Landlord Entered Apartment And Removed Item Before Lease Ended [wv]

My lease ends on the 18th. I moved out of my apartment, minus a few small belongings on the 14th. I came back on the 16th (today, 7 AM) to let the cleaner I hired into the apartment and also grab the items that I left. On entry, I found most of my belongings thrown into a pile in the living room and a note on my counter that said they were going to enter the apartment at some point on the 16th (today) to do a pre-move out inspection.

Of note, my vacuum (value ~$200) is missing. I e-mailed the complex this morning basically saying they entered without permission/ notice and stated that I want my vacuum back. They responded stating "someone" turned in keys for the apartment which is considered indication that the tenant has moved out. I did not turn in keys and still have both sets of keys given to me by the apartment (I planned to turn them in tomorrow). They also began cleaning the apartment, which I fear being charged for. I left it in relatively rough condition, with the knowledge that professional cleaners were coming today.

I'm not sure what to do here. I have a meeting with them later today, but they've been thus far immediately defensive.
