If I Died, Would My Son Automatically Go To His Dad?

Card image cap

Hello. My toddler son lives with me and my parents. His dad is a very bad person and we have a police record of when he took our son and drove away with him drunk. We called the police and the police had him return our son to me. His dad has an alcohol problem and moved to California and works on different hemp farms, always living under the radar on the fringes of society. He rarely pays child support which is only $90 per month.

I have full custody. I live in Ohio and ever since he moved to California our lives have been so much better. My fear is -if I were to die, would my son automatically go to his dad? Would my parents have a chance to win custody? My son has been living with me and my parents since his birth. He loves his home. Hopefully nothing tragic ever happens to me, but it would be helpful to know if my son would automatically go to his dad! His dad is very dangerous.
