I Was Assaulted (dv) 2yrs Ago When I Was A Minor

When I was 17m my stepfather at the time essentially beat the shit out of me, my mom tried to break it up and she got hit aswell but the cops took pictures and whatever etc. We left the house and went to a “safe house” but honestly they werent very helpful and i was missing school so we had no choice but to go back for lack of any other better choices. But i never received any paperwork or phone call or anything regarding my case besides the protective order which my stepdad gave to me and he violated it multiple times and im just wondering is it to late to bring that case back up. because i find it extremely fucked up they never did anything. also he forced me to write a letter saying he never put his hands on me that we were just “yelling” but i have a copy of the letter he wrote and then the one he forced me to write. Can i do anything at this point?
