I Think I Found The Person Who Stole My Identity.
Applied for a home loan and two collections popped up for services I’ve never used. I have in the last 3 days dug and called around and dug some more. It appears this person has used my name and SSN for various utility providers (I had their power and water cut off today) along with several residential lease agreements. I have a copy of the lease for the home they are currently occupying and a copy of their drivers license they provided to the rental mgmt company. After hours of googling and searching, I am pretty sure I have located the person and their real name. Police report was filed 2 days ago but will not be available for about another 7 days. I will use it to start the fraud investigation with the two collection companies. I have frozen all 3 credit bureaus and locked all credit cards through direct phone calls or mobile apps. What is my next step other than contacting Identity Theft which is currently affected by the shutdown? How can I have charges placed on this person and is there anyway to know all the damage they have done? Location: GA
