How Do We Stop A Family Member From Taking Credit Cards Out In My Husbands Name

We are trying to get approval through a lender for a mortgage and have come to find out my husband's sister is still taking credit cards out in his name using his social security number.

For background, his mother passed away when he was 17 and so his sister took him in during his college years and in doing so used his SSN to take credit cards out in his name and maxing them out. He fell victim to her using him and had no idea as she has racked up tens of thousands of dollars.

Here we are years later and thought it was behind us as we just got married 2 years ago! Upon a soft check of his credit to determine what mortgage we could be approved for we were notified of an account that was used in the last two years unbeknownst to us! Help please!!!!
