How Do I Find Out What I Am Owed
Just over 5 years ago in the UK, a friend of mine died. He was really ill and I was looking after him until he died. A day or so after his death, the Executor of the will, said to me, my friend had left me a small percentage of his estate. I know my friend own two properties in the UK at least. 5 years on, I haven’t heard anything about it from the executor. I didn’t really got on with the executor whilst my friend was alive.
At the time of my friend’s death, his estate was the last thing on my mind. However, just recently, I discovered a distant family member, who was acting as executor for her family tried to dupe her sibling out of money from her parents estate, and it’s got me thinking about my situation.
• Has the executor done the same to me, in my situation?
• 5 years seems like a long time to be dealing with the will, or is that my inexperience showing?
Is there a way to find out what I am owed without going to the executor?
How do I go about getting what I’m owed?
