Former Employer Owes Me $20k In Unpaid Wages, But Came Up With An Insane Reason Why He Doesn't Owe Me

So my former employer wasn't paying my salary correctly. He was only paying me for 20 work days a month, then didn't pay me for an entire month. That totals up to $18k. I told him I'm hiring a lawyer, so he sends me this chart where he details why he doesn't owe me anything.

In the chart, he shows that I was paid for federal holidays (MLK, Thanksgiving, Xmas, etc). He cited those days as me being overpaid, so they would cancel out the days that I wasn't paid for.

Everyone in the company was paid for Federal holidays. They also got paid vacation (I NEVER took a vacation. I took 3 days off total in 2 years).

I know that you can technically not pay employees for federal holidays, but my contact says I made $X amount of dollars per year. The dates shouldn't even matter as long as I'm working the required amount of time. The contract was not paid the correct amount.

But for him to retroactively go back and do this just seems like the scummiest thing ever done. He's even adding in the Friday after Thanksgiving. Also, I probably worked most of the holidays any way, so the lying/disrespect is on a level I didn't think possible

I have contacted a layer since this is REALLY just the icing on the cake. He also refused to make me a W2 employee because he wanted to avoid paying taxes, so when I was laid off I got no unemployment benefits.
