Ex Spouse Wants To Keep All Of Our House Sale Proceeds
Hi, I was married in 2014 and bought a home with my soon to be ex husband in 2021. The court recognizes the home as community property. We were to divide the proceeds of the home sale 50/50. I got notice from my attorney that my ex is now stating he should be given all house sale proceeds back as personal property. He states that this is because of money he put down on our previous first home together before we were married, and that he used some of this property to buy the new house (that we just sold). This doesn’t make much sense to me and sounds crazy but I want to know what others think as well. Thanks in advance.
