Ex Husband Has Stopped Sending Money For Joint Debt
My ex husband and I dissolved our marriage in July of 2023, we had been married since September 2019. We separated due to abuse on his part.
In those 4 years money was an issue and since his credit was so bad I (stupidly) took out several loans in my name for us to pay rent, for groceries, etc, with the agreement that he would pay his half. The monthly total for these payments is around $800, including personal loans and credit cards. When we dissolved our marriage he signed paperwork stating that he was legally responsible for a portion of this debt, and no monthly amount was given in court but we agreed that $400 a month being sent to me would work since I’m the account holder.
I recently lost my job and have been struggling to stay afloat, and he conveniently stopped paying his half the same month. I can’t afford a lawyer and have no idea what to do.
