Elderly Couple With Severely Disabled Adult Children

Card image cap

Hey all, I'm in Location: Kentucky. I have a friend (M82) who has Parkinson's and currently a broke hip. His wife is of similar age and is in better health, but still not great. They are currently taking care of a non-verbal, non-mobile son (M49), a moderate to severely disabled daughter (F46) who is barely verbal, and a moderately disabled son (M44) who's IQ is probably in the 65 range, ie is capable of driving and holding down (some) entry level jobs. My elderly friend has asked that I be the executor of his will/estate and has communicated his wishes for the placement of his adult children. I believe it to be in his best interest to start finding a permanent home for his children now as their health is continually in decline. I don't see any extended family members taking custody of any of these adult children, and I can think of no other situation in which they wouldn't eventually be wards of the state. Other than contacting adult protective services (which I will), is there any possibility for the elderly couple to divorce (is that even the right word?) themselves of their children before death?
