Detained In Mexico City Airport

I am an American citizen with a valid passport. October 2022 I was flying from Tijuana airport to Costa Rica via Mexico City. At TJ airport there was clearly an issue as I was detained. As I inquired as to the issue, I was told I needed to speak with an immigration officer. He never showed up so ultimately I was able to leave. Made it to Costa Rica with no further issue. Upon my return I was detained in Mexico City and told I would not be allowed to travel to Tijuana as my final destination. They told me that I may have a warrant for my arrest in USA and I would not be permitted to say in Mexico. I was then put on a flight directly to LAX. Upon landing I was not met by any police and after checking I do not have any outstanding warrant (of course I knew this). I did have an issue over 10 years ago and had to give up my passport to the USA Dept. of State. At that time I did have a warrant and after learning of it I returned to the USA to take care of it. I was met by FBI at that time and arrested. Ultimately the charges were dropped and I was issued a new passport and was able to leave the county. I have tried to avoid Mexico DF as it’s always something when I go through customs there. I have to travel again this time to Loreto Mexico from TJ airport. What can I do to make sure I dont have any issues this time. Since Oct 22, my passport expired and I was issued a new passport. Do I need to hire an attorney to assist in correcting this mistake? Thanks for any advice.
