Daughter Suspended From School For Fighting.

Card image cap

Yesterday, my daughter was suspended from school for fighting, and I had to find out in a text from her that it happened. I immediately left my office which is an hour and 15 minutes away, and the school never called me during this time... so l called them.

When I arrived, they refused to show me the video, claiming they weren't allowed to. I got the video a couple hours later from my daughter’s SM, and it clearly shows my daughter sitting at her lunchroom table when the attacker (who has been threatening her on snapchat) smashes a tray of food in my daughter's face, and then pulled my daughter by her hair to the ground!

The video shows my daughter DEFENDING herself from the attacker who has been suspended for fighting over 10 times this school year alone! This is my daughter's first time ever being involved in any incident and she hadn't met the principal until yesterday. The video also shows other kids positioning themselves ahead of the fight to get the best videos, and in all those videos, you see the teachers standing there not doing shit to help my 12 year old!

This is a little more than mildly infuriating for me and feels like negligence on the school's part. How would you approach this? I’m typically not a fan of going to the police, because they usually don’t do anything, and it may make things worse for my daughter at school.

Please don’t ask me to post the video. Out of respect for my daughter, I will not. Thank you.
