Custody Battle Over My Dog

Card image cap

Location: California I adopted a dog not too long ago. For the first two weeks of ownership my mom was fine with keeping the dog. But after sometime she changed her mind and decided that she did not want the dog in the household. I was searching for a temporary home for the dog so when I move out of my household I can get him back. My mom forced our hand and put the dog in front of the door leashed to a tree. Prior to this my mom sent a number of her coworker who can take care of her. Needless to say I did not want my dog to go to this coworker. But when my mom put my dog outside, I had no choice but to contact said coworker. I have a written letter, signed by him that if I am able to move out in the future I will get him back. Going back to present I have moved out, 5 months have passed. My mom’s coworker has no intention of bringing the dog back. I setup a meetup and told said coworker I am only taking him out for the day, but I lied and got my dog back. Would I get in any legal trouble?

More information: -Upon getting my dog back, my mom tried breaking and entering my new place. My roommates were not happy about the situation. -Miguel is saying that he will contact LAPD and demands $7,000 if I wanted to keep the dog.
