Confidentiality From A Settlement Agreement, What To Do In An Acquisition?

Ran into this scenario with a client in the US. My client's company settled a lawsuit and was paid as part of the settlement. The settlement had a confidentiality clause.
Now my client's company is potentially being acquired, but they are worried that providing their books to the potential acquirer will violate the confidentiality clause of the settlement agreement since you will see how much was paid to settle.
I'm curious how this works, they are under an NDA with the potential acquirer but would revealing anything about the settlement amount violate the confidentiality portion of the settlement agreement?
