Coned Electric Company Pension Bureaucracy Is Going To Kill My Aunt - Denying Benefits She Is Entitled To. (nyc+fl)

My Uncle recently passed leaving my Aunt all alone in their home far from family and friends (Collier County, FL). My Uncle had a nice pension which included health insurance from his service with ConEd (the electric utility in NYC). He elected to have it setup so his pension would pass on 100% to his wife after his death.
When I contacted ConEd (on my Aunt's behalf - she is not well) and informed them of the death I was initially told that a Benefits Specialist would reach out with the necessary forms to transfer the benefits to my Aunt in 5 to 7 business days. After 10 business days I reached back out because nothing had come and was told that whomever said that was in error, and that it takes 4 to 6 WEEKS before a Benefits Specialist can reach out with forms, plus additional time afterwards before benefits in her name would start (benefits would be retroactive).
In the meantime his pension and insurance have been turned off. She got her first insurance denial yesterday. She is on chemo for cancer, pain management plus she has a gaping wound that won't heal that needs to be tended by visiting nurses three times per week. I'm afraid that in the face of insurance denials her providers will stop these services. If she has to sit for 4 to 6 weeks without these treatments her wound will surely get infected and put her in the hospital, which may kill her given her already weak health.
What can I do so she continues to receive health care while she is without income and health insurance for up to 2 months?
