Bullet Shot Into My House.
A bullet was shot into my home and I'm unsure of what to do next. So, when it happened, I called 911 and police showed up. We have issues with this awful neighbor and her children all the time. The police are frequent visitors for arguments and the one kid getting terribly out of control. Nothing that involved a gun before until now. So the Mother wasn't home. Her kids and their friends had been left home alone overnight when someone got a hold of a gun and discharged it on purpose/by accident IDK but it came through my wall just a couple of feet above my head. Cops take everyone out of the house and tell me they believe they have the one responsible (well I know it had to be one of them because I have cameras and no one left before police arrived) and then waited on a warrant for the gun. They take pictures of inside my house and eventually the Mom shows up and after retrieving the gun, they leave and let the people back in their house. I am given a case number and nothing else. I've emailed the detective but he is short and vague telling me the person who shot the gun was arraigned. Okay...now what? My house has holes in it. If I file an insurance claim, I have to pay a $500 deductible. The neighbor is ignoring me and won't discuss payment for repairs. Is she even fully liable? Is the shooter responsible? No one is telling me what to do. I've tried contacting multiple lawyers and all of them turn down my case. My next thought is small claims but I'm not even sure who to sue. I'm just so shocked by the lack of recourse at every turn. Even my HOA says they can't do anything. We've made nuisance complaints about these people for years and the HOA does nothing. Yes, I am trying to sell my house to get away from this awful place but please, help me hold this awful neighbor and possibly the person (possibly a juvenile) who got hold of a gun accountable. What about thr gun owner?
What do I do??? I want the responsible party to cover the damages.
