Baby Was Injured During Birth. Suing The Hospital For Medical Malpractice. Lawyer Mentioned Medicaid Might Want To Take Away The Money If We Win?

About a year ago I gave birth. Won't go into the specific details but the doctors messed up and caused severe injury to my baby. He was in the NICU for almost 8 months. His bills, 6 million+ at this point, have all been covered by Medicaid. He'll have ongoing medical bills for the foreseeable future.
I'm in the process of suing the hospital for medical malpractice. My lawyer believes we have a strong case. She also mentioned though that if we win the lawsuit Medicaid might see we won and try to claim the money to repay the bills. My lawyer didn't offer much more details than that though.
Is there anything I can do to avoid this? I understand the bills Medicaid paid are crazy but the money from the lawsuit would be towards my child's future care. They have severe cognitive issues and will for the rest of their life, so my goal for the lawsuit was to have money to care for them as an adult + after i'm not around. If it's all spent repaying the bills, there wouldn't be a point in starting this lawsuit. How can I even find more info on this? Should I speak to someone from Medicaid or should I avoid mentioning any lawsuits to them? Should my lawyer be able to give more details or is this out of their wheelhouse?
