Accidentally Recorded My Roommate.

my roommate’s accusing me of a felony , did i actually commit one ?

Location: Michigan

I’m sure I didn’t tag right … erm don’t worry about it . Anyway, this story is about a month ago, so now we’re at a stalemate, if you will.

I live in a dorm room , studio double. I had issues with the previous roommate - constantly on a FaceTime until around 1a, and I have to wake up for work at 2a . This new roommate moving in, I was told had the same issue with hers, to the point it apparently escalated that campus patrol was involved.

The roommates left for the weekend, they would come back at the same time, switch keys, and the new roommate would move in with me.

I call my long distance partner every night. I watch them play games, then I fall asleep on nights my roommate isn’t coming home, and sometimes I’ll go to work and come back, and he’ll still be asleep. I am also very forgetful, which leads me to the following:

I forgot my new roommate was coming home, and I left the call open. The laptop was facing ‘my’ wall, and the microphone was on, which means if my partner were to be awake and put in their airpods , they would hear what’s happening.

My new roommate came around 10 or so, and my partner woke up around that time as well. He put in his airpods, and let me know maintenance was there to move my stuff. Obviously not maintenance, obviously new roommate.

He let me know said new roommate seemed nice , her family not as much. He told me they planned on moving my stuff around, and then told me he got disconnected.

I came back at noonish, greeted my new roommate, and saw my laptop closed.

I will spare the details of my financial issue with her, but she agreed via text that her brother broke the laptop by closing it, didnt mean to, and she was going to pay $200 to me in exchange; this did not happen, we argued about it a few weeks later, and she told me her brother closed it because I was recording her, and she would report me for a felony if I kept pressing about the money.

It’s about a month later, I dropped the money thing, but now shes doing random things, taking my toilet paper, using my trash can, my vacuum, not holding her side of the cleaning agreement, and now invited people in while i was sleeping, so i’m reporting her, so if charges are possible, they’re happening. what am i in for?

I will obviously take any questions and give any extra information, but this is the majority of the story !
