(wa, Divorce) Sister Died With No Beneficiary.

Card image cap

My sister passed away recently and had filed divorce last year. At the time of her death her divorce was still pending and not yet finalized. They shared no kids and no assets. My sister told my parents at some point months prior to her death that she put both parents on her retirement and life insurance. Not her spouse. However, when we went to the funeral home we were shocked to know that my sister updated her life insurance and forgot to add my parents as the beneficiary. Therefore, according to the insurance company. It says no beneficiary and automatically goes to husband. We have reached out to the husband and he agreed to split the money. It hasn’t been paid out yet. However, now he is ignoring our calls and proceeding on his own. Is there anything we can do to prevent this? Especially knowing the money was meant to be left to my parents and not the spouse. I also want to note that he was abusive to my sister and a few months prior to the divorce filing admitted to her that he only got with her for financial gain. We are sick over this as my parents are seniors and struggling significantly and my sister left a lot of debt and expenses behind. Any advice?
