[idaho] Had An Attorney's Letter From Parents Because Daughter (15f) Didn't Win Contest In Class?

I'm a teacher, and I was served a notice by mail from a law firm stating that parents of a girl I teach, 15, will see me in court for not giving her the prize that a girl won in a contest in geography class.

The law firm checks out, real attorneys, real people, a Coeur d'Alene law firm that's a PLLC, so not a scam.

As it were, the prize was a bundle of ethnic foods from ethnic stores, snack foods and a collection of books, nothing high-value.

These parents seem to be of the mindset "winning is the only thing", and I've met them before, they seemed nice enough.

But their daughter isn't as concerned about winning, she's just enjoyed the taking part, great to teach.

How should I handle this?

What I don't get is - suing me over a class contest for geography writing projects?
