[ct] Divorce Lawyer Told My Cousin Not To Leave Her Marital Home, Despite Her Worries That Husband Might React Violently To Getting Served. Is She Correct?

So my cousin is filing to get divorced from her husband of 15 years. They have 2 children, 15 year old twins. She does not work because she is disabled from a work accident, and dependent on husband for finances, health insurance, etc.
Husband has been violent in the past (with both her and the kids) and also done things like mess with her OCD meds which caused her to have a mental breakdown. We are worried he might react violently once the divorce papers are served.
Her lawyer told her not to leave her marital home and that it would be better for her to stay there for the coming court case. She said that if he does react violently, she should call the police.
I'm not satisfied with this answer. He could get violent, mess with her meds again or even kill her before the police get there.
Is the lawyer advising correctly?
