The family moved to New Jersey. Percival boarded Lusitania as 2nd class with his parents and older sister Ailsa (8) to return to England. The ship was struck by a torpedo from a German U-boat in the middle of the Mid-Atlantic. The whole family lost their lives in the disaster and only Ailsa's body was recovered.
