RINGGOLD — Edwin “Ed” Dallas Milam, Sr., 82, of 3028 Ringgold Depot Rd., Ringgold, died Monday, October 19, 2015, at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Mr. Milam was born August 21, 1933, in Pittsylvania County to the late Mary Womack Milam and George H. Milam.
He attended Timberlake Baptist Church until a decline in health, and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Milam loved NASCAR, baseball, and gardening and had retired in 1999 from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. after 28 years of service.
Mr. Milam is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gladys Hedrick Milam of the home; four sons, David G. Milam and wife, Sherry of Sutherlin, Jeffrey L. Milam of Ringgold, Richard G. Milam and fiancée, Linda of Danville, and Ronnie Alan Milam of Ringgold; one daughter, Kristi Bloomer and husband, Cary of Java; nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Milam was preceded in death by one son, Edwin D. “Ed” Milam, Jr., and three sisters, Jean Milam, Sylvia Milam, and Lois Milam.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 22, at 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, with Rev. Walter Yancey and Rev. Daniel Custer officiating. Interment will follow the service at Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and at other times at the residence, 3028 Ringgold Depot Road, Ringgold.
