The Story
DONALD LOUIS SOMERS
Donald Louis Somers, Glastonbury, Connecticut and El Yarumo, Colombia, South America. A very devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, executive, musician, sailor and world traveler. This remarkable person was born in Springfield, New York and moved to Glastonbury, Connecticut at the age of three with his parents.
He left his beautiful surroundings and loving wife to be with his parents Elizabeth (Kern) and Louis Somers in a more beautiful place on April 10, 2015. But death be not proud because what a marvelous-great 82 years he enjoyed. Fifty-nine of those years he spent with his best friend and loving wife, Betty-Jo (Evans) Somers. He is survived by three loving sons and daughters in law, Donald L. Somers Jr. and Barbara A. Somers, Brett E. Somers and Christy L. Somers, Rodney D. Somers and Shannon W. Somers, Also, a special former daughter in law and her husband, Marty and Greg Iacobucci. Three admiring grandchildren, Brett E. Somers Jr., Cristina R. Disomma and Wyatt L. Somers. Five wonderful great-grandchildren: Lexie, Nathan, Mikayla, Kaleb and Ariana. In living the good life, he impacted so many others past, present and future.
After graduating from Glastonbury High School he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the USS Markab for the four years. He received an Honorable discharge as an Interior Communications Technician Petty Officer. He then promptly enrolled at the University of Hartford. Upon graduation he was hired by AT
