Best Hotel Brands With Full Kitchens You Can Book With Points

I’m a big fan of hotels with kitchens. They’re particularly helpful for vegan travelers and anyone with dietary restrictions or food allergies who may not find many options at restaurants in some locales. Even if you don’t have specific food aversions, eating out three times a day can take a toll on the most iron-stomached traveler, specifically their wallets. Buying groceries and cooking at “home” is a great way to get a more balanced diet and cut costs during your trip, especially when traveling with kids.

Hotels with full kitchens that you can book with points may seem like unicorns of the travel world, but they’re actually not uncommon. Most of the major points hotels have extended-stay or suites-only brands where every room has a full kitchen, complete with ovens and/or stovetops, dishwashers, plates, utensils and refrigerators. These brands often provide additional amenities like laundry, high-speed internet or free breakfast, and many are pet-friendly. But although they’re designed with extended-stay travelers in mind, you can book most of them for a single night or a weekend getaway.

Some brands offer kitchenettes, which include just a minifridge and microwave — enough to reheat leftovers from a restaurant but not to cook your own food. For this list, we’ll focus on hotels with full kitchens that you can book using points.

Marriott Bonvoy hotels with full kitchens

Marriott Bonvoy offers great value when redeeming points for Marriott stays, partly because your fifth night is free. Marriott’s portfolio includes several self-catering hotel brands, both domestic and international.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott offers spacious suites and full kitchens, as well as the 24/7 In a Pinch market and items like blenders, cookbooks and board games available to borrow from the front desk. There are over 400 properties across the U.S. and Canada, including the TownePlace Suites San Diego Downtown, which starts at 29,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

Residence Inn by Marriott includes over 850 properties around the globe. All have kitchens, pools, fitness centers and outdoor spaces with fire pits or grills, and some are pet-friendly. In lieu of room service, you can have groceries delivered to your door for free. The Residence Inn Big Sky, Montana, aka The Wilson Hotel, has award availability from 45,000 points per night.

The wellness-focused Element by Westin brand offers health-minded and sustainable amenities like fitness centers, EV charging stations and bike borrowing programs. Element includes over 100 hotels worldwide, but most are concentrated in North America. Award stays at the Element Bloomington Mall of America start at 25,500 Marriott Bonvoy points per night; rooms at the Element New York Times Square West start at 43,000 points per night.

Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy includes 2,000-plus premium and luxury homes around the globe that are bookable with points. You’ll find breathtaking options like an 18th-century French chateau and a Costa Rican ecolodge, but they don’t come cheap — most cost upward of 100,000 points per night.

For self-catering in major cities like London, Dubai and Bangkok, Marriott Executive Apartments offer full kitchens. But while you can earn Marriott Bonvoy points at these properties, you can’t redeem them for award stays.

World of Hyatt hotels with full kitchens

Hyatt’s loyalty program, World of Hyatt, is known for still using an award chart, which often allows travelers to get outsize value from their points. Hyatt has two hotel brands that offer full kitchens.

Hyatt House is geared toward extended-stay travelers, with laundry facilities, pet-friendly rooms, outdoor grilling areas, 24-hour grab-and-go markets and specialty items like yoga mats and blenders that you can borrow from the front desk. Not all rooms have full kitchens, though. For example, at the Hyatt House Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, you can book a room with a kitchenette for as low as 8,000 World of Hyatt points. For a full kitchen, you’ll need to book a suite starting at 13,000 points.

At Hyatt Vacation Club properties, you’ll find more luxurious suites and villas, most of which include kitchens. A great option is The Ranahan, a cozy retreat in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, where suites start at 21,000 points per night and villas start at 36,000 points.

Some Destination by Hyatt properties, including the Kaanapali Alii and Lahaina Shores Beach Resort on Maui, have kitchens in every room. But this isn’t a brandwide feature, so be sure to check the amenities of each hotel.

Hilton Honors hotels with full kitchens

Like Marriott Bonvoy, the Hilton Honors program offers a fifth night free on award stays. Hilton’s portfolio includes a range of brands, from midrange to ultraluxury and even upscale camping, and three of them have kitchens.

Homewood Suites and Home2 Suites are geared for extended stays, with amenities like free breakfast, fitness centers and outdoor social spaces, but there’s no minimum stay at most properties. Homewood Suites by Hilton Orlando Theme Parks has award stays starting at 38,000 Hilton Honors points per night. Home2 by Hilton Denver Downtown Convention Center is bookable from 60,000 points per night.

Hilton Grand Vacations Club (not to be confused with Hilton Grand Vacations, Hilton’s timeshare branch) offers luxury hotels that can be booked with points. Most are in popular U.S. travel destinations — think Las Vegas or Colorado ski towns — but HGVC has a few international properties, too. A one-bedroom suite at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club on the Las Vegas Strip starts at 77,000 points per night. Or you can stay at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Craigendarroch Suites Scotland, a self-catering hotel that looks more like a castle in the Scottish wilderness, starting at 104,000 points per night.

Hilton recently announced the launch of its newest extended-stay brand, LivSmart Studios. The first location is slated to open later this year.

IHG One Rewards hotels with full kitchens

IHG has two brands with full kitchens, as well as other amenities. Candlewood Suites offers free 24-hour laundry, and specialty kitchen appliances are available to rent at the front desk. Staybridge Suites provides free breakfast daily, as well as light bites and happy hours three times a week.

Although these brands are geared toward longer stays, you can book rooms for as little as one night. For instance, a night at Candlewood Suites Asheville Downtown in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains starts at 17,000 IHG One Rewards points, while a night at Staybridge Suites London-Vauxhall will set you back 65,000 points. And if you have select IHG cobranded credit cards, you’ll get your fourth night free when booking with points.

Choice Privileges hotels with full kitchens

For travel in the U.S., Choice’s portfolio includes four extended-stay brands, but not all are bookable with points. WoodSpring Suites doesn’t participate in the Choice Privileges program, so you can neither earn nor redeem points at WoodSpring properties.

If you want to redeem Choice points for hotels with full kitchens within the company’s portfolio, check out Everhome Suites, MainStay Suites and Suburban Studios. For instance, rooms at MainStay Suites Chicago Hoffman Estates start at 8,000 Choice Privileges points per night.

These brands offer additional amenities like laundry, free breakfast and pet-friendly rooms. Some have vending machines or self-serve convenience stores where you can pick up groceries and snacks. But keep in mind that there’s a shortened booking window for award stays at these properties, so you can book with points up to 100 days out.

Bottom line

There are many benefits to staying in a hotel with a full kitchen, and options aren’t as limited as you might expect. All the major points hotel chains have at least a couple of brands offering full kitchens. If you’re like me and love having access to a kitchen while on vacation, booking one of these properties can be a great way to get more value out of your points.
