It's a big day for fans of Celebrity Cruises: The beloved ocean cruise line is officially set to make its foray into river cruising, beginning with 33 weeklong sailings of the Danube and Rhine rivers in 2027.

Celebrity's two 172-passenger river cruise ships – Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker – offer an exciting new way to explore the area, with the familiarity of some of the ocean line's best features. Highlights include:

  • Open-air decks with plenty of outdoor space: According to Celebrity, the design of the ships offer more usable outdoor space than any other river ship on the market, providing plenty of opportunities to take in the European sights. Guests can enjoy 360-degree views, an infinity-edge pool, shaded areas, and a bar and grill on the top deck.
  • The Magic Edge: A spinoff of Celebrity Cruises' innovative Magic Carpet (exclusive to Edge-series ocean vessels), the Magic Edge is a collection of cantilevered dining pods positioned over the edge of each river ship.
  • Five stylish cabin categories: Passengers will have their pick of five modern stateroom styles, all of which include private balconies, abundant natural light, king-sized beds and complimentary minibars. Some cabins add perks like skylights, while others include Celebrity's Infinite Veranda (a convenient indoor-outdoor balcony feature on ocean ships like Celebrity Beyond and Celebrity Apex).
  • Suite perks: Guests in suites will receive a dedicated butler on demand through the line's "Butler Chat" program, as well as complimentary room service, exclusive dining and laundry services. Suite passengers will also have priority booking access for excursions on shore.
  • Eight food and drink venues (including familiar favorites): In addition to the alfresco bar and grill, travelers can wine and dine at Café al Bacio, Sunset Bar, Martini Bar, a chef's table (with a focus on local fare) and more.

Fares on Celebrity Seeker and Celebrity Compass begin at about $3,000 per person; dining at multiple restaurants, select beverages, Wi-Fi access and shore excursions are included. On Sept. 3, Celebrity opened up priority booking access for its 2027 sailings – available staterooms on both ships reportedly sold out in less than 10 minutes.
