Patriots Ol Jared Wilson ‘week-to-week' With High Ankle Sprain: Report
Patriots OL Jared Wilson ‘week-to-week' with high ankle sprain: Report originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
The New England Patriots will be without two starting offensive linemen for at least the next few weeks.
Rookie left guard Jared Wilson suffered a high ankle sprain Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals and is considered “week-to-week,” NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday.
“While most high-ankle sprains are 4-6 weeks, the hope is (Wilson’s sprain) is on the shorter side,” Rapoport added.
Wilson suffered the injury on New England’s opening drive Sunday and was one of several Patriots players who left the team’s 26-20 win due to injury. Will Campbell may have the most notable ailment; the rookie left tackle reportedly is believed to have a sprained MCL that could force him to injured reserve, with the hope that he would be able to return at some point after a minimum absence of four weeks.
If Wilson’s ankle sprain sidelines him for fewer than four weeks, he wouldn’t have to be placed on injured reserve, in which case he may only have to miss one or two games. The Patriots have a bye in Week 14 after their upcoming Monday night game against the New York Giants in Week 13, then host the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills in Week 15.
Veteran interior lineman Ben Brown replaced Wilson at left guard in Sunday’s game, while offensive tackle Vederian Lowe replaced Campbell.
