Giants Defense Extremely Shorthanded For Sunday's Week 12 Matchup Vs. Lions

Even a fully healthy Giants defense would have their hands full with the Detroit offense, as the Lions enter play on Sunday as the fourth-ranked scoring offense in the NFL, averaging 29.2 points per game.

So it certainly doesn't help matters that when the team announced their inactives prior to kickoff, the list included four defensive starters.

Cornerback Paulson Adebo (knee) and edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux (shoulder) had previously been ruled out, and joining them among the inactives on Sunday were corner Deonte Banks (hip) and safety Tyler Nubin (neck), both of whom were previously listed as questionable.

Without Thibodeaux in the lineup, the Giants will rely on Brian Burns, who is second in the league with 13.0 sacks this season, and first-round pick Abdul Carter, who is still looking for his first full sack this season, to get pressure on Jared Goff.

On the other side of the ball, the Giants will once again be without starting quarterback Jaxson Dart, who, in somewhat of a surprise, was not able to clear the league's concussion protocol this week, meaning veteran Jameis Winston will start for a second consecutive game.
