Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Early Pickups To Consider Going Into Week 13
We're getting into the crunch time of the fantasy football season with only a few more weeks until your playoffs. Time is running out to add meaningful players to help boost your roster, and snagging a gem off the waiver wire this late could put you over the top or provide just enough to sneak into the postseason. Below, we're going to cover some early fantasy football waiver wire options going into Week 13.
Fantasy Football Week 13 Early Pickups
Chris Rodriguez Jr., RB, Commanders (16% rostered)
The Commanders had their bye in Week 12, so Rodriguez was out of action. That likely led to some fantasy managers dropping him for help elsewhere. If that's the case, you should be honing in on Rodriguez, who looks like he's taken over the Washington backfield. Prior to the bye, Rodriguez had 15 carries for 79 yards and a catch for six yards against the Dolphins overseas. He's also scored three touchdowns in the past five games. While Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Jeremy McNichols are still going to eat into Rodriguez's snaps and touches, he's emerged as the preferred back of the bunch.
Andrei Iosivas, WR, Bengals (20% rostered on Yahoo)
There are some moving parts here, but if it shakes out the way we think, Iosivas will be an intriguing waiver wire add for Week 13. The Bengals play on a short week on Thanksgiving night against the Baltimore Ravens. Tee Higgins suffered a concussion late in Sunday's game vs. the Patriots. It will be very difficult for Higgins to clear the NFL's protocol in time for Week 13. Ja'Marr Chase returns from suspension but the absence of Higgins would allow Iosivas to maintain the second receiver role for Cincinnati. There's also a chance QB Joe Burrow returns for Week 13, which would obviously be a huge boost to the offense overall.
With Chase out in Week 12, Iosivas finished with four catches on seven targets for 61 yards, leading all Bengals receivers in the game. TE Mike Gesicki (2%) may not be a bad tight end streamer if Burrow returns.
John Metchie III, WR, Jets (1% rostered)
This is more of a deep-league recommendation because there's not much out there in the waiver streets at wide receiver. The Jets made a switch to Tyrod Taylor at QB in Week 12 and Metchie was the most effective wide receiver, finishing with six catches on seven targets for 65 yards and a touchdown (15.5 fantasy points). That's back-to-back double-digit fantasy point totals for Metchie, who has bounced around quite a bit this season. The former second-round pick will have some risky flex value so long as top wideout Garrett Wilson (knee) remains sidelined.
