Is There Any Sutta Or Talks About Fully Accepting The Results Of Your Past Actions?

I'm experiencing the physical results of past drug/alcohol use and remorse from how I was mean to my ex-girlfriend. Is there anything about accepting this kamma that would help me out here? I try to fully accept the bodily pain and if my friends ever try to talk negatively about my ex, I don't contribute. I often find inspiration from the story of the monk that murdered 999 people and how he would calmly accept the angry village people's taunts and physical abuse - keeping his sila intact while he experiences the rotten fruits of his past unwholesome actions. Is there anything else like this?
