Who Is Responsible For Watering The Yard?

My lease has 2 contradictory sections. They state:

"Utilities and services: Tenant agrees to pay for utilities and services except: Trash and lawn maintenance."

The landlord hires someone to come mow, fertilize grass etc.

However, the general provision they forgot to remove when they added that further down states:

"Tenant shall keep the yard mowed, watered and free from fire ants." in the tenant obligation section.

I rented this house under the assumption all landscaping was covered by the landlord and he stated as such. Now he wants me to pay the water bill and run the built in irrigation system 3 times a week which will cost approx $200 additionally on my water bill.

I confirmed there's only 1 water line for this property. I am debating asking for a rent reduction to compensate, but not sure if the lease technically has me responsible or not...
