Victim Of Domestic Assault

I’m in Tennessee, specifically the nashville area.

On 5/24 I was physically assaulted by my sister in laws fiancé, i’m 22f, he’s 24m. He overheard me talking in my bedroom about family/school issues to my husband a nd apparently i said something to upset him (i don’t even remember what it was) and the next thing I know I hear the door trying to bust open.

My husband was in front of the door so the first time the door was pushed open my husband was slammed against a wall but managed to close it again, the entire time the fiancé was screaming things like “im going to kill you” and other incoherent things directly at me. The second time the fiancé got the door open he almost broke it off the hinges, my husband put his hands up to show he wasn’t a danger and the fiancé pushed my husband and tried to rush me.

The entire time the fiancé kept saying “you’ll regret this, just wait”

My husband pushed him out of the room by the shoulders to restrain him from beating me, the fiancé lost his footing and fell on the floor, the entire time still screaming, threatening and acting belligerent. While all of this was happening my sister in law kept screaming “stop” at her fiancé and he would ignore he and shove her/elbow her until he eventually was restrained by my husband.

After that my sister in law proceeded to scratch me to the point blood was drawn and there will be scars after.

On top of all the prior information there’s a good chance I might me pregnant and since this incident i’ve had non stop cramps and stomach discomfort.

I told my husband to stop restraining him because i was out of the way enough that the fiancé couldn’t attack me, immediately my husband stopped, we left the room and the fiancé said “Your husband will be a felon, he choked me out, good luck” so I immediately called the cops.

The police came and he was charged with domestic assault, a court day is going to be assigned soon and he can not legally step on our property again.

We are filing charges and in our bedroom where everything happened there was an HD. security camera with audio that caught the entire thing.

I need to know if I have a case and what exactly would be a good idea from this point. I’m scared to look stupid even though i’m scared for my life. I’m safe realistically but what he did was unacceptable.
