Using Pto To Bridge Gaps?

Card image cap

My work implemented a new policy (That I signed because it was required after reading the handbook) in June that says allows them to AUTOMATICALLY use my PTO to bridge hours worked to get me to full 40 weekly. The schedule they gave me only allows for 38 weekly (I work six hours on Saturdays, remaining four days are normal eight). I've tried doing the research into MN laws about if that's a permitted for them to do, but I haven't been able to find anything. It pisses me and my coworkers off that they have automatically deducted my earned PTO to get my full hours made. Additionally, if I do get sick, I have to use those PTO hours to cover that too. We do get the one hour PTO per 30 hours worked, so I thought that was still in line with the Sick/Safety law Minnesota has in place.

They also sent out an email yesterday reminding people that unpaid PTO must be approved first, so lol for sick time.

Is what they're doing legal? And yeah, I'm already looking for a new job, so I have been working on getting out the door. Even if it is legal, it's bogus.
