Terminally Ill Grandfather Doesn't Want To Write A Will

Writing this on behalf of my mom. Background: me, and my mom live in my grandfathers house with an abusive aunt + her husband. They are evil people they have stolen items from us, broken into our rooms, and mentally and emotionally fucked us up so bad. They are well off but wont leave the house, mean while me and my mom are poor, we cant even afford an apartment.

My grandfather has termal illness, and we are not sure how much longer he has to live. We've talked to him about creating a will he doesn't want to, and we do not want to force him to make one. What can we do now? what will happen to the house/ all of his property when he passes? is there any way to get the house/property Under my mothers name? I worried we may end up homeless, and plus we really dont want the abusive aunt and her husband (who dont do shit for him btw) to keep everything. Is there anything we can do at all??
