Roommate Wants Me To Sign My Rights Away
my roommate and i are both on the property agreement and our names are on everything together. unfortunately things aren’t working out anymore , and we came to the agreement to sell the property.
the house was not selling and it was on the market for over a month with no offers.
we then decided to take the property off the market, and he decided that he wants to keep the property but put it under his name and refinance the house.
my issue is: he’s asking me to sign my rights away from the property and to remove my name off of everything. the property agreement, xcel, xfinity, etc. my concern to this is me signing my rights away from the property, but what if he’s not able to refinance the house to under his name only due to financial issues or something else. if i sign the rights away and that happens, i’m afraid that i won’t have any rights to the house and my name will still be on the mortgage.
how can i go about this or what should i do to protect myself ?
