Property/inheritance Question
My mother's mother died in 2006. Her beneficiaries were her daughter and son, my mother and uncle, who inherited her house. My mother lives outside the US, and my uncle and his wife lived in the house until his death last November.
Yesterday my mother received an email from my uncle's wife stating that she was selling the house, had an appointment with the realtor today, and where did she want her portion of the sales price sent. Apparently the house was put in my uncles name without the knowledge of my mother. I feel like something shady is going on and would like to know what my mother's options and first steps are to get transparency and agency in this situation. I live in the US but am quite far away, but would happily intervene if necessary.
The property in question is in Des Plains Illinois USA. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
