Personal Vehicle On Business Property Incident

Card image cap

Hello!

I am in Ohio, I manage AND live onsite at a campground where the incident occurred (though my residence is across the property from the incident).

My car’s e-brake JUST failed/couldn’t handle in some fashion while my car was running and the door open. I had just gone to a camp site to check something. 2 minutes later as I’m walking back toward my car, it started to roll backward toward me, down a hill, and over a large rock and before stopping. Thankfully I had looked up from my clipboard when I heard gravel and saw it in time to move out of the way.

It might be OK if it weren’t for the door being open and hitting a tree in its way down, still unsure if I can get it closed or if it will need towed just because if the door. We’re still digging out the rock underneath to check the mechanics.

I know insurance companies can be funny about personal vehicles being used while working but I’m not deliveries pizzas. I’m going from site to site, inspecting and also live on the property, not the owner, just the help lol.

Could they deny covering my vehicle because I was working and at a campsite when this happened? ???? ????????

Edit: spelling

I am a salary employee, I do not clock in but was working when the incident happened.

I know I should just thank my lucky starts this wasn’t much worse. But I’m just so disappointed in myself for trusting my e-brake on a slight incline, leaving my door open ‘real quick while I….’

And if I find out this isn’t covered, I might die inside
