Need Help With A Child Custody Situation - Ohio

Card image cap

My girlfriend (30f)and I (32m) have been together for 2 years. She has 2 children from a previous relationship. He has not been in the picture at all for the past 3-4 years. He just moved to another state and didn't attempt to make contact.

Now he has served my gf court papers for visitation, after having done that. He also has an active warrant for Marijuana possession and has a history of other misdemeanors and drug use.

She used to live in Montgomery County, she now lives with me in Clermont county.

We have spoken to several lawyers with different information - for example one lawyer says the case can happen in Montgomery County, another says the judge might dismiss the case and move it to Clermont, where we live now.

Can we keep the case in Montgomery county? As she still works there and that would be easier for her.

The next question is, if there's even a chance of it moving against our wishes, can we do that part WITHOUT a lawyer then just find a lawyer for Clermont county?

We've had 0 luck finding a lawyer to service both counties, and we don't want to pay 2 different lawyers on the same case. If that makes sense.
