My College Refusing To Give Me My Degree

Card image cap

So I 23M graduated from my local community college in 2022 with my Associate of Arts Degree. During fall 2023-current date I attended the college again to obtain a degree in Personal Training/Exercise Science (I would have graduated this may). I already had a years worth of credits for that degree so I figured I would give it a try as its something I am passionate about. Everything was going fine until a week and a half ago I realized I never got a email about the graduation ceremony. So I went to campus to ask questions about the issue. I was told that I never should have been able to attend that school because I already had a degree but also because of the negligence of someone in the registrations department. So basically someone in registrations didn't look enough and allowed me to proceed towards another degree in a field when they should have caught it. They told me I wouldn't be able to get a degree but they can offer me a diploma if I took extra classes during the summer but the diploma doesn't represent anything. Do I have any kind of way to get compensation for this or any kind of legal footing if I wanted to proceed with something?
