Lawyer Fees From My Late Mother's Divorce

My Mother passed way in 04/23. At the time her ex husband was suing her for an amount equal to the down payment on her house. He claimed he gave her the money, she denied it. During the divorce the house was awarded to her. She had purchased it before they were married. So it seemed he was trying a different way to get some money out of the house. Because the case was already going on, I got in touch with that lawyer and hired her for the probate. This was in FL and my Mother had made home her homestead... after a protest the house was given to me. I cleaned up and cleaned out the house and sold it. The estate is insolvent but the probate has stayed open because of the ex husband suing. They changed it from my Mother to her estate. It appears probate will be able to close unless they appeal. I hope I'm explaining that well... there was a motion to compel for bank records that was denied by the judge. The estate lawyer said she's working on a order granting summary judgement.

I wired the probate lawyer the payment for her work. Once it was received she thanked me explained whats next and said she had attached an invoice for my Mother's divorce attorney and to please make a payment so there is no claim against the estate. The bill is for nearly 6k. For all other creditor claims she's sent me a object to claim to sign since the estate is insolvent. She is asking me to pay this other lawyer though. I think they are personal friends, possibly work out of the same office.

I'm just looking for opinions here... I wasn't counting on spending another 6k. From looking online it looked like the divorce ended in 09/22 but the invoice/bill does have some phone calls and motions into 03/23. I wasn't aware of this attorney, I wasn't involved in my Mother's divorce at all.
