Judgment Entered Against Me, Paid Next Day, Haven’t Been Released From Judgment In Over A Year.

Over a year ago I went to small claims court with my landlord. We mediated and a judgment was entered against me. I paid the judgment amount the next day. The payment was to the landlord directly (per mediation agreement) and the landlord would file the judgment release. It’s been over a year. Interest is still accruing on the judgment- but it has been paid it full. I have documentation of course.
Fast forward, and the judgment is brought up in a pre-employment check at my police agency. They questioned why I had an outstanding judgment. I explained the situation and they advise I clear this up immediately.
I called the courts and they told me to get in contact with the former landlord. Can the landlord really just release me from the judgment over a year late AND not face any monetary consequence? There is a statutory penalty of $400 if I give them 30 days notice to file and they don’t file. It doesn’t feel fair.
The landlord during mediation “cheered” while signing paperwork and voiced his excitement that I couldn’t afford the judgment and explained how I would end up actually paying him more than the judgment amount due to interest. I sold my car and used that cash to pay the judgment next day. My anger for his lack action to this matter is palpable. I truly believe he thinks by not filing I will still owe interest.
