Independent Contractor. Was Requested To Work 12 Hour Shifts In The Er. Ended Up Being 13 To 14 Hours As I Had To Attend To Very Sick Patients And Finish My Notes Prior To Leaving

Now the hospital says that I need to resubmit time card and keep it less than 13 hours as they don't feel it should have taken me 14 hours to get patients transferred and finish notes. I worked the hours as it could jeopardize patient health if I didn't. It also felt like the right thing to do, to finish my notes. I work 1099. Am I entitled to get paid for the hours worked? It feels a bit like a W2 position and they are my boss at this point. Have no plan on picking up extra shifts for them. I work through a locum company who already paid me.
