Husband Wants An Uncontested Divorce — Different States, Infant Involved. What Should I Expect?
LOCATION: NEW YORK & NORTH DAKOTA Hey everyone, I’m looking for advice, not criticism. My husband and I are currently living in different states. He’s in North Dakota, and I moved back to New York when I found out I was pregnant. When I told him I was pregnant, he made a comment along the lines of “it’s like me punching you in the stomach,” which was the moment I realized I needed to leave. We have a 4-month-old son now. He hasn’t been involved in the pregnancy at all, never bought anything for the baby, hasn’t met him, and has made it clear he doesn’t want to be involved or have any responsibility. Now he’s asking for an uncontested divorce, and I’m not really sure how that works considering: We live in different states We have a child he doesn’t want involvement with I’m 20 and he’s 25, which leaves me feeling a little overwhelmed navigating all of this on my own Has anyone dealt with something similar? How does an uncontested divorce work when there’s a baby involved and one parent wants zero responsibility? Any insight or experiences would help a lot.
