Grandparents From Hell

In 2001 my grandparents got divorced. In 2002 my grandmother remarried. In 2003 my biological grandfather died (suspected but unproven suicide via private plane crash). My Grandmother and Step-Grandfather sued my father and his two sisters for their life insurance payouts after learning her ex-husband had not left her much of anything. They won by default when my father and aunts ran out of money and couldn’t keep going. In 2004 I was born.
When I was 17, I was placed with my Grandmother and Step-Grandfather due to my being in foster care. My Step-Grandfather was an alcoholic who couldn’t hold down a job at this point in his life. I ended up leaving the state before my 18th birthday because I did not feel safe around him, as I later came to find out, he had previously been convicted of “Indecent liberties with a child” after molesting one of his foster children in his first marriage during the 1990s. He had been released just shortly before marrying my grandmother.
So I came back to Kansas in October 2023 to stay with my dad, who was living with my great-grandmother at the time to help take care of her. My grandparents were also staying here. The following documentation is everything I have on the events that followed.
“
[REDACTED] is my step-grandson. I have known him his whole life. His grandmother [REDACTED] my wife, 3 years ago were his guardians because he was in foster care. We had issues with [REDACTED] then as well. He lives with us now; he has always been troubled. As grandparents we try to help, but everything is our fault. He is very smart, and he knows how to work the system as well as the police. He moved in with us (10-15-2023) to present. I asked him 2 weeks ago to start helping with the bills and this is where everything started to crumble. I have since then filed 2 police reports against [REDACTED]. Case numbers 24-290 and 24-295 with the Mulvane police department. The first one was for threatening to beat me down and lunging at me with his fist up, trying to provoke me to hit. I was scared. I am almost 63, and he is 20 years old. I can't protect myself the way I used to, and he did the same thing to my wife. "I'll get you in your sleep." I called the police; they came, but [REDACTED] left. Later that day, one of our cars had to be towed home, and the next morning, my car would not start. I had my car towed to the shop and found out that sugar had been put in my gas tank and our other car. I filed the next report. The police came and talked to [REDACTED], and he dismissed the officer and said he has nothing to say without his lawyer. The officer said if there is no witness or proof to lead to [REDACTED], there is nothing they could do. Shortly after that, [REDACTED] came out of his room and smiled at me. We filed claims on our cars and we are waiting. Last night (05-10-2024) I received a phone call that [REDACTED] had been posting some really bad stuff on Snapchat about me. I don't do Snapchat. We do fear for our safety and what the next thing is going to be. I asked him to move out and he said "Nope I'm not done here. “ -PFA Filed by Step-Grandfather on May 11 and served to me on May 13 EDIT: this is verbatim how he wrote it
“
On Sunday 5-5-2024, while I was in the kitchen, [REDACTED] approached me and informed me about some issues he was experiencing with his vehicle. He expressed concern and accused me of sabotaging it. As I attempted to defend myself against these accusations, [REDACTED]'s demeanor quickly escalated; he raised his voice and became increasingly aggressive towards me. Feeling threatened, I attempted to move closer to my bedroom, seeking a safe space where I could call for help. [REDACTED] followed me, continuing to yell and stating, "You are going to pay for what you’ve done."
Before I could reach the safety of my bedroom, [REDACTED] shoved me forward. I was shaking with fear, worried that something was about to happen to me. Fortunately, my Aunt returned from her walk to the gas station just in time, giving me a chance to reach my room. As I was closing the door, I saw [REDACTED] pointing at me and angrily declaring that this was not over.
Texts from May 10, 2024: 07:32 [REDACTED]: The cops are here. 07:32 [REDACTED]: They had me wake up with a cop asking me questions. 07:32 [REDACTED]: The dude was harassing the fuck out of me. 07:33 [REDACTED]: Are they still there? 07:33 [REDACTED]: He called me a jackass saying I'm causing problems for them and shit. Like dude, for real tried intimidating the hell out of me. 07:33 [REDACTED]: Not in the room anymore. 07:33 [REDACTED]: I had to say like 8 times I have nothing to say before he fucked off. 07:33 [REDACTED]: Wtf?? 07:34 [REDACTED]: I'm on my way back from Jumpstart, are they still there? 07:34 [REDACTED]: Obviously I knew better than to say anything, but that scared the rf out of me. Idk if they are. 07:35 [REDACTED]: I'm so sorry son, please, please stay calm. Don't give them anything to get you on. 07:36 [REDACTED]: Even disorderly conduct. 07:37 [REDACTED]: I made sure to look right in his blinking body camera and said "As I said multiple times, I have nothing to say to the police without my lawyer. 07:40 [REDACTED]: I just got to the street, they are still there. I don't want to come back yet. 07:41 [REDACTED]: Good job though son, I'm proud of you.
On Thursday 5/16/2024, at or around 14:50 hours, I was standing in the public road in front of [REDACTED] in Mulvane, Kansas. I was awaiting multiple family members to meet me outside. There is currently an active protection order between [REDACTED] of [REDACTED] and myself. While I was peacefully waiting on the public access roadway, [REDACTED] began to use a wireless speaker outside his residence in an attempt to speak to me, intimidate me, and harass me. Shortly after this, the police arrived. There were about 4 officers that arrived, one uniformed with his body camera off as well as a man with a shirt identifying him as a captain. The remaining police officers did not identify themselves. I made the claim I was in public, and I had that right. One of the taller police officers bucked up to me and said, “You’ve got over a hundred years of law enforcement in front of you boy” and that I didn’t have the right to be anywhere in public if it was “anywhere in the vicinity.” When I asked for clarification on the term “vicinity,” I was arrested. I felt afraid and intimidated by the Mulvane police department.
Texts from the date of arrest (5-16-2024): This is [REDACTED] texting his aunt and dad simultaneously. 14:47 [REDACTED]: I'm at the truck. 14:50 [REDACTED]: [REDACTED] just tried to speak to me through the camera. That's a violation of the protection order. 14:50 [REDACTED]: He's continuing to speak to me through the camera. That's a violation of the protection order. I'm on public property. 14:51 [REDACTED]: He got a protection order against me, and now he's trying to intimidate me. I am shaking with fear. 14:51 [REDACTED]: I am on public property being assisted by my family members, and I'm being harassed and intimidated. 15:02 [REDACTED]: Cops are here.
“ - This is everything I’ve kept notes of since this event started happening.
