Girlfriend Overcharged For “rescue” Tow

Last night my girlfriend was driving for Uber when the app took her down a street that wasn’t very lit up and made her take a turn over a curb. Her car got stuck completely to the point where it needed to be towed to get free so she called a local tow truck company that had pretty high reviews. They told her it would be a $250 deposit to come get her and then depending on how bad the damage was to the car, they might have to charge more for whenever they have to tow it to. So far so good, as that’s the standard for towing in our area, at least in my experience. Once they get there, they pull her out, completely but unavoidably destroying her back bumper and say that her car is good to drive.

However, before they let her drive off, the two guys that are there with her say that she owes them a $850 “rescue” fee for having to come out so late. I’m on the phone with her/them at the time and I kept asking where this fee is coming from, as they never mentioned it before but they said it’s “standard company policy.” I had tried to refuse the payment but seeing as I was on the phone 30 miles away, her car was still hooked up, and my girlfriend was alone with these two guys, I felt forced to comply. They then had me Zelle the money to a phone number, told us that her insurance should give her the money back, and drove off. We’ve tried calling them several times to speak to someone or get a receipt, but no one is answering/returning our calls. Even going online to their website shows that it’s pretty much a fake website with nothing listed except for a phone number. I am more than certain we got scammed by these guys as I’ve had a rescue tow before and it’s never been that much. I want to get my money back but I don’t know what to do. For reference, she got towed in Dallas around 1 am.
