Contesting 590$ School Zone Ticket

Card image cap

Location: Washington state

I was pulled over by a county officer and given a school zone speeding ticket for almost 600$. I didn’t argue or anything. But the school zone light was not blinking on a sign that said “20mph school zone when flashing” I was going 48 in a 45mph zone, small town on a highway. There was even someone in front of me doing the same speed too. After the officer left and I finished freaking out in my car I safely turned back around and had my wife take a video of the school zone sign that was not flashing, I took that video at 3:10pm and the video is timestamped on her phone. I assume the sign was broken, there was a bad storm a couple days prior which may have something to do with that. Goes without saying I contested it and I have my trial date for early next month. I’ve never been in a situation like this. I’ve never been in court for anything. I would like to know if I have a good case, and in general how to go about presenting it or what the experience at court may be like. I was also wondering if I can bring my wife in as a witness, she was with me in the passenger seat. Would I have to subpoena her? Or how does that work. Thank you very much for your help.
