Can A Job Fire You Over Someone Else Impersonating You?

Hi.
I was wondering if someone else were to impersonate you online using your photos and name and your job find it, will your job be legally required to tell you they fired you because of what they found online or are they allowed to hide it under a vague umbrella and fire you and say it was because you were not a good fit for the team?
I only ask because recently I have been impersonated online and the person is spreading false information about me by claiming to sell naked photos of myself (that do not exist and are AI generated). I am worried that this might get caught by the company I work for or spread around so much they see it and I am freaking out and not sure what I should do? I tried reporting the account but they keep creating new ones even after the old one gets deleted. I also private my account as well (not sure if I should just delete it all together). I'm just concerned about the potential effects this has on my actual well being which is keeping my job.
Thank you so much
Edit: I am from Texas
