Alleged Early Vacate, And Lease Violation
Hello everyone.
Location: California
TL;DR: A debt collector claims I moved out early, and gave me my signed document of the tentative move-in date. They ignored my emails, then told me to call them. They yelled at me over the phone denying that they ignored my requests for documentations, and my emails in a recorded phone call. They hung up on me after telling me to email them to dispute the debt.
After I moved out of my apartment unit, the a debt collector called me a month later regarding a lease violation. They said I moved out early.
The time line of the email exchange:
Debt collector - 4/2
Me - 4/8
Me 4/14
Me - 4/21
Debt collector - 4/21
me - 4/21
me - 5/13
Debt collector - 6/2
Their first email has an attachment for the amount owed for buy-out/cost-reletting lease, and forfeited deposits.
Their second email included the same attachment, and another "[...] Properties Application Approval Acknowledgement" regarding a tentative move-in date.
Their third email has the same attachment as the first email, the itemization amount, and 2 more different addresses from their website. The document doesn't list out how they determine the amount, why they claimed I moved out before the lease ended, or the move-out policy in my lease.
